So getting into the latest updates of After School Lizzy’s drunk driving scandal
So sad but I have to inform you that right now, Lizzy is facing a one-year prison sentence.
Specifically, Lizzy’s first trial was held yesterday at the Seoul Central District Court, in which she was indicted on the charges of dangerous driving under the ‘Additional Punishment Law on Specific Crimes’ and violating the ‘Road Traffic Act’ with her incident.
With these 2 serious charges, the prosecution has requested the court to sentence Lizzy to one year in jail.
In this trial, Lizzy admitted her wrongdoings, saying that:
“I apologize to the taxi driver and to the public who could have fallen as a victim of my hasty decision.
I promise that this wouldn’t happen again ever in my life. I will not let anybody down from this point onward, including myself.
I was afraid of myself but coming here for the trial was more terrifying.”
Well, this news literally ṩḧöċḳed netizens cuz one year in jail was said to be a pretty harsh punishment for Lizzy’s first offense.
It’s the first time people hear a celebrity would carry a prison sentence just because of DUI charges.
You know, with this kind of charge, the defendants would just normally be fined or put on probation for a while. Remember the similar cases of NO:EL or Super Junior Kangin?
Even though both of them have been indicted for DUIs several times, and even NO:EL has attempted to äṩṩault ṗöŀïċệ twice, they still received no jail time.
So whether one year in jail is a lot for Lizzy?
Meanwhile, some netizens said that a DUI is a very serious crime, especially in South kσrєα cuz those who are innocent could have been kílled by others’ faults.
Thus, it’s understandable when Lizzy gets such a harsh punishment.
Anyway, it’s just her first trial and the court has not given the final conclusion yet, so stay tuned with us to get further information.
