Guess what? BTS and Coldplay just rocketed into the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart at No.1 with their collab “My Universe”.
Such a great milestone for both BTS and Coldplay cuz among other incredible feats, “My Universe” is the first Hot 100 No.1 ever by two co-billed lead groups.
Initially, there was a wave of negative opinions from Western aud̾i̾e ̾nces targeting this collaboration.
People worried that the combination between a Kpop group and a long-time favorite act in Westernlike Coldplay, would affect the identity and color of this band.
They say things like “Why did Coldplay also get caught up in the Kpop collaboration trend?” or “Now everybody is collaborating with Kpop acts”.
But after My Universe was released, these criticisms seemed to quiet down themselves because the song is simply too good.
This song has quickly gone viral across the Internet and has even been showered by tons of compliments from famous Western critics.
NME, a fastidious music magazine that called Lalisa “a dull and empty song”, just praised “My Universe” as a celestial ode to unity, hope, and the power of love.
NME also highlighted that BTS and Coldplay are two of the biggest bands in the world as well as two of modern pop’s deepest thinkers.
Well, it can be seen that BTS has gradually proven to the whole world that every single comeback has not only taken over a series of charts or sales but also has always made a great impression in the eyes of fastidious Western critics.
